About The Pen
Here is a pen straight out of Victorian science fiction and the industrialized 19th century. The Steampunk genre has re-ignited a love of old fashioned materials and is all about mixing the old and new; fusing the usability of modern technology with the design aesthetic and philosophy of the Victorian age. We have designed our kit around this aesthetic; the kit combines flat head screws, riveted design patterns, replica Gattling gun barrels, a Bolt Action mechanism plus a mixture of industrialized Antique copper, pewter and brass finishes. Steampunk is a major trend in fashion, jewelry and design over the last few years - now is your chance to create the perfect pen as the ultimate Steampunk gift.
Each pen is hand made to order in Dublin, Ohio. Wood options are Cherry, Western Red Cedar, Curly Maple, Mahogany or Hickory, all which are sourced from a sawmill in the heart of Ohio's Amish Country. In addition, we offer a 200 year Barnwood from recycled beams that came from a building we took down on our farm. Exotic wood options, which are sourced from Central and South America, are Purple Heart, Bloodwood, Redheart, Zebrawood, Dark Cocobolo and Light Cocobolo.
The colors of the wood shown are all their natural color, coated with a polyurethane finish to both protect and enhance the natural beauty of the wood! This finish will also keep its shine for years to come! Most polishes used by wood turners are a simple polished wax, which will wear away in a short period of time, leaving the wood dull with no protective finish.
The window boxes are made from cardboard, with a rubber loop under the ribbon to keep the pen in place, making the pen easier to wrap while offering a great display of the item.
