About The Pen
There has never been anything like this new Steampunk inspired pen kit. With its unparalleled level of detail and striking design, it is a must have creation for any Steampunk enthusiast or collector. The Steampunk genre has re-ignited a love of old-fashioned materials and is all about mixing the old and new; fusing the usability of modern technology with the design aesthetic and philosophy of the Victorian age. We have designed this kit around this aesthetic. The Pen Mechanism: Inspired by the steam engine, the pen reliably extends and retracts using a steampump action click mechanism. The pen End is typical of the steampunk style, the pen end features an intricately casted Victorian clock surrounded by gears and pipes - incorporating an unparalleled level of ornate detail. The Pen Tip is a shapely, machined tip that is decorated with leaf trim and has a waist with machined through-holes that give view into the inside of the pen. The Pen Clip is curved, machined and precision-engineered with routed edges, through-holes, and rivets.
Each pen is hand made to order in Dublin, Ohio. Wood options are Cherry, Western Red Cedar, Curly Maple, Mahogany or Hickory, all which are sourced from a sawmill in the heart of Ohio's Amish Country. In addition, we offer a 200 year Barnwood from recycled beams that came from a building we took down on our farm. Exotic wood options, which are sourced from Central and South America, are Purple Heart, Bloodwood, Redheart, Zebrawood, Dark Cocobolo and Light Cocobolo.
The colors of the wood shown are all their natural color, with the exceptions of the color dyed maples, coated with a polyurethane finish to both protect and enhance the natural beauty of the wood! This finish will also keep its shine for years to come! Most polishes used by wood turners are a simple polished wax, which will wear away in a short period of time, leaving the wood dull with no protective finish.
The window boxes are made from cardboard, with a rubber loop under the ribbon to keep the pen in place, making the pen easier to wrap while offering a great display of the item.
